Miscellaneous
- Any news from the Lockwood Aria?
- Who, exactly, is Greg, how could anybody be irritated by cher M. C-, and how dare anyone say a word against my beloved Sieglinde?
- The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment is coming to Wellington for the Arts Festival and I can't make it to see them. I'm also missing Tan Dun's Tea. Fingers crossed, I will get to Parsifal, though that too is less than certain at present.
- NZ readers take note, Music Alive on Concert FM this Thursday (8pm) is a concert by the Auckland Choral Society, including Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with soloists Donald McIntyre, Helen Medlyn, Patrick Power and, oh yes, Patricia Wright. I'll be glued to the wireless; will you?
- Incidentally, immediately before the above programme, at 7pm, is a repeat of Des Wilson's interview with Grace Bumbry, recorded when she was here to judge the Song Quest. Also worth a listen. And if anyone overseas is feeling particularly dedicated, you can listen to Concert FM online now.

- Is there, in fact, anything more wondrous than Jean Pierre Ponnelle's 1987 film of Mitridate, Re di Ponto? I suppose there must be but I'm having difficulty right now imagining it. Blame Aspasia (see right, though I wish you could hear her); I do, for everything.
Plus, uh, how'd I get labeled a gay opera blog?

hi Sarah,
I think the results were as following (though I could be wrong): 1st Phil Rhodes (baritone); 2nd Paloma Bruce (soprano); 3rd Allison Cormack (soprano)

Now, the plan is to launch a counteroffensive against the British; you gals from NuZ attack from the south, and us fags from NYC will storm the western coast (via a cruise to London, I imagine). Then, we'll meet at the Piccadilly Schpiccadilly and figure out a way to take out the Big Ben ... We should probably bring food with us, as the grub there really, really blows. Or we could just hop onto the Eurostar, get our fabulous selves to Paris for meals, and then maybe shop for accessories too. Whaddayathinks?? LOVE YOU!! --Sieglinde
