One of the reasons we started The Mad Scene in the first place was to encourage themed costume nights at the opera — it's the sort of lunacy which works better in groups. So, now that the group is going strong (159 members and counting — will you be #160?) we've announced the first such evening. It's A Night of Eighties Bliss, a chance to don your best shoulder pads and sequins in honour of Brett Dean's Bliss.
In theory it's a Mad Scene event, but since I know not all of you are Facebookishly inclined, consider this your invitation. Thursday 25th March is the date for your diary. We're not organising a group booking or anything like that, but it's worth noting that there are a lot of seats left for that performance in all reserves of Rows A-D. That's where my co-admin Simon and I will be, as well as at least a few other Mad Sceners, and we'd love for as many people as possible to join us — the more the merrier.
And if you are Facebookishly inclined, you'll find all the event details here. We'll organise pre-show and interval gatherings closer to the night, so keep an eye on that page for further information. We'd appreciate it if you RSVP, too; it doesn't oblige you to come, but it does at least give us a rough idea of who to expect.
