Nice. Welcome back.
Peter Seiffert's wife is a person, too, I think, though I can't remember her name.
I can't believe you missed Walkure and I saw it. That seems unbelievable.

To be honest, I'm really looking forward to hearing the Tenor in your life, Stuart Skelton, together with the Soprano 'in my life', Eva-Maria Westbroek. In my country she's about the only opera singer we have got and I just happen to like her a lot, the singing as well as the acting. For all I know, she's also a lovely person. At least, that's what people say. It seems to me your Tenor is a very experienced Siegmund singer and I have no doubt it will be great, the two of them singing together. Let's just hope there won't be any misfortune, illness etc. It is just a single performance, after all. EMW herself recently was guest editor in a dutch national newspaper (she was given the opportunity to make some articles herself, have a photo shoot etc.). There, for the first time, she finally revealed, and was very honest about it, what exactly went wrong at the Met. It was 'a woman thing' that happened to coincide with the performance. She had taken prescribed medication, but these pills, unfortunately, caused a narrowing of blood vessels and a oedema was formed around the vocal cords. She explained that it felt like she could only produce hot air out of her throat. She really had to work very hard to produce any sound at all. Fortunately the underlying problem has been fixed, she has had surgery, so that should be allright now. The 13th of April happens to be a friday, I just noticed... But I guess even the curse of Alberich won't be able to stop them :)

D - Hadn't noticed it was a Black Friday! Let's hope it brings good luck for once instead! Here's hoping the wonderful EMW will be in the full bloom of health.

Barbara - Yes, Peter Seiffert is married to the excellent soprano Petra Maria Schnitzler. They did a Tristan & Isolde together quite recently I believe.

Oh, music to ...

May the gods of right place/right time favour the patient.

Happy New Year à deux.
